Duties
As a Health Scientist, you will:
Design, oversee, implement, and conduct major scientific survey/study or project to identify and solve public health problem.
Review and analyzes study and project assessing major and or sensitive public health issue in order to make recommendation for process, procedure and /or policy related to public health program, practice and research.
Provide technical advice and assistance to national, state and local health agency and to various other organization.
Lead collaboration on program/project/study and coordinate effort, as appropriate, with other program staff, and other federal agencies, national, State and local health agencies, and private and non-profit organizations, etc.
Qualifications
Desired Qualification Requirements/Experience:
Public health emergency preparedness or response activities and knowledge of and experience with scientific administrative policies and practices designed to ensure scientific quality and integrity.
Applicants must currently occupy a full-time Career or Career Conditional competitive service position within CDC/ATSDR or an Excepted Service position under the Schedule A, Schedule B, or Veterans Recruitment Appointment Authority within the CDC/ATSDR or Commissioned Corps equivalent, unless otherwise specified in the Announcement.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
