This vacancy is for an Supervisory Business and Industry Specialist (Direct-Hire) in the International Trade Administration within the Department of Commerce within the Office of Investment Security-Committee on Foregin Investment in the United States (CFIUS) team.
Duties
As an Supervisory Business and Industry Specialist (Direct-Hire), you will perform the following duties:
Serves as a supervisor in the Office of Investment Security in direct support to the Office Director/Coordinator for Commerce's participation on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), a Treasury-led interagency body that conducts national security reviews of transactions that may result in foreign control of a U.S. business. Provides vision for the CFIUS program of work and performs the full range of organizational management functions necessary to implement the program.
Plans and manages in coordination with the Office Director, major and continuing agency program segments which are characterized by such features as regulatory or oversight coverage which extends to most or all government agencies or private sector entities involved in the assignment area.
Provides direction and integration of the contributions of senior business and industry professionals both within and outside the employing organization.
Briefs senior Departmental officials who participate in policy-level meetings and represents the Department at the weekly meeting of the CFIUS members hosted by Treasury.
Supervises a team in reviewing and making recommendations to the Committee on behalf of the Department of Commerce regarding companies buying or selling U.S. corporate assets.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify at the GS-15 level:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Developing administrative regulations that disseminate program guidance for applications across organizational lines; and
Providing support and guidance on strategic planning, major policy initiatives, and management priorities to senior leadership; and
Preparing and presenting oral and written communications to interact with internal and external executives, managers, customers and employees on policy guidance, strategic direction and status of projects.
