About the Position: This position is within the Hospital Education and Training department located in Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio TX.

Duties

Maintain vendor licenses and acquisitions documents in appropriate Electronic Records Management system. Develop active assessment program for library services and/or programs in support of the agency mission. Prepare contracting requirements packages and documentation. Maintain accurate acquisition records and oversee invoice payments. Oversee the procurement of library items such as: books, subscriptions, copyright, and/or service and support contracts. Evaluate the reference collection to determine materials needed, review reference collection for replacement of obsolete and worn items.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Basic Requirement for Librarian: Degree: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree; OR A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: coordinating operations of a medical library and information program in accordance with established policies; monitoring the expenditures of funds for proper allocation; promoting medical library services/information to healthcare providers and/or students; experience in medical librarianship and information technology, methods, practices and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Financial ManagementInfluencing/NegotiatingProblem SolvingStrategic Thinking Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
