The Connected Health Program Support Assistant serves as the administrative support staff for the Connected Health Coordinator, MVH Coordinator and/or the Connected Care Program Manager across the health care continuum at the Ralph H Jonson VA Medical Center located in Charleston, SC.
Duties
The Program Assistant is the principle clerical or administrative support in the Connected Health Care Service Line. Duties include but are not limited to:
Receive and screen visitors and telephone calls.
Maintain calendars and make appointments in accordance with established practice or special instructions.
Arrange conferences.
Receive and review incoming correspondence; screen and track general service information and determine priority or deadline dates.
Review outgoing correspondence to insure uniformity and proper format, grammatical correctness, neatness and completeness of content.
Assist with training on the applications, guidance and support to system end users across the facility connected health enterprise.
Serve as a health technology expert in support of the VHRC located at it's associated VA facility.
Tracks training needs for VA staff using connected care modalities.
Other tasks as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience GS 5: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: compile and prepare replies to general correspondence; prepare memoranda; maintain calendars; maintain suspense files; prepare agendas for meetings; take minutes; make travel arrangements, etc. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of 9 months of specialized experience and 75 semester hours of college (15 semester hours beyond the second year and the equivalent of 3 months of specialized experience). I have 75 percent of the required experience and 25 percent of the required education. (The applicant meets 100 percent of the requirement for 1 year of specialized experience and is qualified for the position).
Specialized Experience GS 6: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least GS-06 level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience at the next lower grade level is experience with projects/assignments of a crosscutting nature that are the responsibility of the Facility Telehealth Coordinator and other local stakeholders working with virtual and connected care programs. Supporting the facility's Virtual Health Resource Center (VHRC). Providing guidance, hands-on support, training, help troubleshooting and other information regarding virtual care tools.

Physical Requirements: The work demands include above average ability, dexterity and strength to perform the work. There will be walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, carrying of items, driving of an automobile, etc. May be required to sit or stand for most of a normal tour of duty. Will lift and move equipment up to 20 pounds and will reach above shoulder level for technology installation or in assistance with technology installation. Fieldwork may involve travel for training activities, attendance at meetings and conferences.
Work Environment: The work is usually performed in an office environment, meeting rooms, clinical spaces, or similar settings. Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. Incumbent will require travel to CBOCs, with occasional throughout VISN or other locations as needed.
