About the Position: Administers programs concerned with protection of public health/welfare, the environment, and associated natural resources.
Duties
Perform duties as the Installation Hazardous Material/Waste Program Manager and is the subject matter expert for a small quantity hazardous waste generating facility.
Maintain knowledge of Environmental laws including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Air Act, etc. and all Federal and State legislation/regulations in area of solid waste and hazardous and toxic materials management.
You will ensure every document for all hazardous waste generated at PTA is accurate as required by law.
You will manage two or more of the following programs: Pollution Prevention (P2), Spill Response and Prevention, Lead, Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB), Lead, Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB).
You will provide advice to the Command on matters related to environmental protection/abatement and protection/pollution prevention.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate a government-owned vehicle up to and including 3/4 ton.
- May be required to travel overnight away from home station on occasional Temporary Duty (TDY). Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
- This position may require the incumbent to work nights, weekends and holidays.
- This position requires the incumbent to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a pre-entry on duty (EOD) Physical exam and yearly thereafter.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) you must report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, implementing, and monitoring local environmental compliance programs and services, and preparing environmental documentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
