This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS).
As a SPECIAL ASSISTANT, GS-0301-14, you will serve as a special assistant managing office functions, and coordinating cross-divisional projects, handling health information, supporting staffing activities, evaluating policies, and overseeing special assignments and operational processes related to Medicaid and CHIP services.
Duties
Review, interpret and support the implementation of program policies and initiatives.
Coordinate the Center program related studies and projects assuring effective management of resources and successful completion.
Evaluate the effectiveness of existing and new policies/legislation to access potential impact on program administration and on operations.
Prepare various documents or perform technical edits to program administration documents.
Attends high-level meetings and conferences and makes contributions at leadership discussions.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Analyzing healthcare programs and policies to advise management; (2) Coordinating of special initiatives and/or projects across the organization ensure that information is aligned with strategic goals; (3) Developing of documents (i.e. briefing papers, analytical reports, standard operating procedures, guidelines, issue papers, administrative management reports, etc.) to ensure compliance with quality standards; and (4) Recommending administrative initiatives to senior management or key stakeholders.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
