You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER in the DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND STANDARDIZATION of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA.
Duties
You will serve as the principal Safety and Occupational Health Manger to the Commanding officer, MCAS Yuma, Arizona.
You will plan, administer, and evaluate a comprehensive safety program whose elements include formulation of installation safety and occupational health directives, prevention control of mishaps, etc.
You will keep abreast of the state-of-the-art through frequent coordination with officials of other agencies and literature research.
You will recommend the introduction of techniques, procedures, or device to the installation operation.
You will initiate written procedures implanting technical safety standards, safety codes and requirements for a variety of operations or activities.
You will plan and administer scheduled and unscheduled workplace and program inspections, surveys, and technical assistance visits.
You will provide first level supervision to staff in matters concerning OSH programs, Explosive Safety program, Driver Safety program, etc.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing occupational health and safety programs; conducting hazard assessments and mishap investigations; developing safety policies and procedures; implementing safety training programs; and advising on occupational health and safety regulations and practices.
