About the Position: Incumbent serves in an Interdisciplinary position, as a professional Biologist, Wildlife Biologist or Forester assigned to the Riverlands Section of the Rivers Project Office, with primary responsibility for the conservation, management, development and administration of natural resources, wildlife habitat, soil, water and Environmental Stewardship Program objectives. Resources are subjected to intensive use and/or unusually complex management problems.

Duties

As the Environmental Stewardship Manager, supervises the Environmental Stewardship Program. Programs are staffed by lower-graded team members who assist in the accomplishment of assigned program responsibilities and approved work plans. Develops and implements plans for management of fisheries and wildlife. Responsible for proper evaluation of habitat types and prepares management recommendations in final form. Develops long and short range plans for forestry and silvicultural practices including reforestation, timber stand improvement, inventory, and timber sales on the Project floodplain forests. Ensures protection practices are in place for fire suppression, timber theft, insect and disease control, and endangered plant preservation. Establishes priorities of work to be performed and equipment to be purchased. Responsible for maintenance, marking and protecting the project boundary. Prepares and updates cultural and historical resource inventory/protection plans.

  • This position requires the incumbent to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Position requires a valid State motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment and maintain the license for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires occasional TDY travel.
