This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, National Maritime Center in Martinsburg, WV.
Duties
This position serves as the Administrative Assistant in the Coast Guard's National Maritime Center (NMC), providing executive level administrative services for the various Division Chiefs of the National Maritime Center and general support to the NMC divisional staffs. The incumbent performs a variety of clerical and office management functions essential to the efficient and effective operation of the Division.

- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Qualifications
To Qualify for the GS-07: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: maintaining and organizing office files and other materials; screening calls and visitors; creating and editing routine internal and external correspondence and other documents; maintaining time and attendance and property accountability; preparing travel, budget, and procurement documents; and scheduling meetings/conferences.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
