This position is part of the Chief of Staff, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Coordinate and attend oversight meetings with congressional staff, maintain schedules, take notes, and follow up on action items.
Track legislation and congressional developments, attend hearings, and create related GPO materials and reports for senior management.
Develop strategies to improve and maintain strong relations with Congress, including research and expert opinions on GPO policies and operations.
Provide research and writing assistance for mission-critical communications to Congress, including budget requests, legislative priorities, and agency accomplishments.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee may be required to pass all preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Confidential Financial Disclosure Report may be required.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
Qualifications
To qualify for the Congressional Relations Specialist, PG - 0301 - 14 , you must meet the following requirements:
To minimally qualify for the PG-14 level, you must meet the following requirements. You must possess at least 1 year of specialized experience at the PG-13 (or equivalent) level or higher.
Specialized Experience:
Specialized experience may include the following: (1) Applying Project management skills and technical expertise to the agency; (2) Producing comprehensive reports for senior management and developing related GPO materials; (3) Providing supervision to office personnel.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (08/21/2024) to be considered.
Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used or this grade level.
