The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a security specialist, providing criminal records management, criminal reporting administration, Live Scan Administration and Installation Resource Protection program assistance for the 5 SFS.
Duties
Serves as Security Forces criminal records manager and criminal reporting systems administrator.
Serves as the Security Forces Live Scan Management System manager.
Ensures Compliance with Requirements for the Protection of Installation PL-4 Resources.
Monitors the Installation Crime Prevention and Suppression Program.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies in carrying out information, personnel, and industrial security assignments, advising operating officials, and developing guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls. Knowledge of the methods of performing such duties as conducting reviews, collecting and analyzing information, etc. and skill in weighing the impact of variables such as critical personnel qualifications, variations in building construction characteristics, access and entry restrictions, equipment availability, and other issues that influence the course of actions taken in resolving security questions and issues. Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.
OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed at least one (1) full year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or have a Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of compliance standards for criminal history reporting.
Knowledge of mission, policy processes, procedures and customer service goals sufficient to manage the reports and analysis program, as well as knowledge of general office clerical functions.
Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation.
Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, guide others and accomplish multiple ongoing projects to include the ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
Skill in analyzing crime statistics and data to identify crime trends and areas particularly vulnerable to crime.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
