Located in the Public Engagement (PE) Unit, Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP), under the Office of the Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights. Serves as a Lead Public Affairs Specialist on the Public Engagement team responsible for executing and leading public relations activities for the J/TIP's Communications and Outreach Team.
Duties
Ensures that the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
Applies a wide variety of communications strategies, techniques, and dissemination methods, drafts complex documents for release to the public on behalf of the Bureau Spokesperson.
Provides expert guidance and recommendations to Office leadership outreach efforts relating to human trafficking issues, including by coordinating with key anti trafficking stakeholders to support the Department’s efforts to address these issues.
Advises on and recommends specific outreach activities designed to support J/ TIP priorities.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
Experience drafting press guidance and other press products.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
