This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operations Division / Office of Foreign Operations (OF), Arlington VA.
This position(s) primary purpose is to provide a full range of support and management services in such functions as office management, personnel management, property/space management, financial management, procurement, general office services, and office supplies, and equipment, as well as various administrative activities within the office.
Duties
As a Administrative Support Specialist, your typical work assignments may include:
Planning administrative services activities to support the operational needs of the division or office.
Identifying and implementing processes and procedures that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the office.
Reviewing and oversight of a myriad of administrative programs, distribution and dissemination of incoming suspense actions, and tasking's from internal controls.
Planning, providing guidance and/or carrying out all activities in a headquarters office.
Planning, writing corresponding and special reports, or other working administrative documents related to clearly structured work assignments or developmental activities.
Developing and implementing feasible and effective plans for space control and assignment of HQs allocated office space and requirements for new or different space.
Resolving a variety of substantive problems related to the assignment, preparation, and administrative processing of a variety of issues in assigned program areas.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application.
Applicants applying for the GS-0301-11 must meet one of the following requirements:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates your ability in: 1) Preparing narrative reports containing a statement of the issue or problem, background, observations, options for change, and recommendations for action; 2) Consolidating data from staff, prepares reports, correspondence, briefing slides and other written materials in accordance with established regulations and guidelines pertaining to straight forward policy issues or requirements, such as time-frames for requested responses, or required regulatory references; 3) Provides staff assistance to operating and management officials by analyzing and evaluating current or projected management programs and evaluates their actual and projected potential effectiveness in achieving their objectives; 4) Full knowledge of the program office, provides expert analysis and advice on complex program issues requiring research of files or other appropriate records to provide accurate and detailed information as requested.
B. Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or three (3) full years of progressively higher- level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related.
OR
C. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Applicants applying for the GS-0301-12 may qualify if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service (or equivalent).
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing narrative reports containing a statement of the issue or problem, background, observations, options for change, and recommendations for action; 2) Consolidating data from staff, prepares reports, correspondence, briefing slides and other written materials in accordance with established regulations and guidelines pertaining to straight forward policy issues or requirements, such as time-frames for requested responses, or required regulatory references; 3) Providing staff assistance to operating and management officials by analyzing and evaluating current or projected management programs and evaluates their actual and projected potential effectiveness in achieving their objectives; 4) Full knowledge of the program office, provides expert analysis and advice on complex program issues requiring research of files or other appropriate records to provide accurate and detailed information as requested; 5) Planning and writing correspondence, special reports, and/or other working administrative documents related to clearly structured work assignments or developmental activities; 6) Knowledge of DEA mission, vision, and goals, regulations, guidance and precedent governing the areas of responsibility in order to establish and maintain agency standards.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
