This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Surface Forces Logistics Center, Engineering Services Division, Technical Information Management Branch, Baltimore, MD.

Duties

The incumbent serves as a senior engineering technical publications Subject Matter Expert for the Publication Production & Distribution Section, Technical Information Management Branch. This individual is responsible for the evaluation, revision, promulgation, and distribution of surface naval engineering technical publications in the Coast Guard’s enterprise surface technical information repository, CG-LIMS-STIP.

Qualifications

Candidates must show successful completion of a full 4-year course of study that meets all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in engineering or related fields. Or Four years of experience that provided a knowledge of the basic principles, theories, practices, techniques, and terminology of a discipline or subject matter field; an understanding of the standard methods, procedures, and techniques of research and analysis in the subject-matter field. Such experience must have been equivalent to that which would have been gained through a 4-year college curriculum. Or A combination of education and experience described above. At the GS-11 level:  Additional Experience and Education Requirements: In addition to meeting the basic requirements listed above, candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal government. Examples of specialized experience would include: analyzing and organizing miscellaneous engineering technical information or materials; knowledge of printing, publishing and distribution requirements; gathering information from a wide variety of sources; planning, organizing and assisting team study work and to negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations of proposals involving substantial resources, require extensive changes in established procedures or may be in conflict with the desires of the activity studied; and locating highly technical and specialized engineering information presenting findings in reports, summaries, charts, or other formats. Or Candidates may also meet the minimum qualification requirements through possession of a Ph.D. or three full years of graduate education that is directly related to the work of this position. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position and which is typically in or related to the position to be filled.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
