About the Position: This is a Supervisory Interdisciplinary, GS-XXX-13 position with USACE, Southwestern Division (SWD), Regional Planning and Environmental Center (Environmental Branch's Environmental Engineering and Science Section). This position may be filled at any of the following duty locations: Fort Worth, TX; Galveston, TX; North Little Rock, AR; or Tulsa, OK. The duty location chosen is at the discretion of management and will be determined at the time of selection.

Conduct analysis of documents or recommendations submitted to determine if desired results are obtained and provide an acceptable degree of adequacy Review overall performance of various contractors to identify areas of inadequacy and development of trends. Ensure adequacy of review of the more technically complex unique portions of work performed by both contractors and in-house personnel. Direct the review of reports and project strategies to ensure policy and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Basic Requirement for Physical Scientist (1301 series): A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in the physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Course work equivalent to a major in the physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Basic Requirement for Geologist (1350 series):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography.

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.(Note:Acceptable experience may have been gained through geological field or laboratory work that provided a means of obtaining professional knowledge of the theory and application of the principles of geology and closely related sciences, e.g., geophysics, geochemistry, or hydrology. Such work generally must have involved making close observations, taking samples, handling various types of instruments and equipment, assembling geologic data from source materials, and analyzing and reporting findings orally and in writing. In some situations, professional scientific experience in other fields may be accepted in part as professional geological experience. Such experience must have been preceded by appropriate education in geology or by professional geological experience and must have contributed directly and significantly to the applicant's professional geological competence. To receive credit for geological experience obtained in positions that are not full-time professional geological positions, the applicant is responsible for indicating clearly the actual time or percentage of time devoted to geologic duties within such positions, and for giving adequate descriptions of the geologic functions.)

Basic Requirement for Geophysicist (1313 series):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.).

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
