Incumbent leads the Department-wide Sexual Misconduct Response Unit. The work involves providing oversight of the handling of responses to sexual misconduct allegations throughout the Department, drafting policy and guidance, developing training programs, and providing authoritative advisory services to Department and component leadership.

The duties and responsibilities for the Director, Sexual Misconduct Response Unit generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide oversight of the handling of responses to sexual misconduct allegations throughout the Department.
Ensuring a consistent and equitable approach to responding to complaints of sexual misconduct across the Department and assisting with answering sensitive, complex, and/or highly visible inquiries from the Administration or Congress.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Sexual Misconduct Response Unit Director at (GS-0301-15), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: 1). Developing Department wide policy, coordinating programs with high-level management officials, and resolving complex issues related to the investigation of sexual misconduct allegations. 2). Researching theories to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct. 3). Developing new initiatives to effect solutions to unique and unusually complex problems regarding sexual misconduct response and prevention. 4). Exercise a high degree of discretion, independent judgment, initiative, empathy, tact, and confidentiality.
