About the Position: The mision of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance.
Duties
Disassemble, clean, rework, and/or overhaul, and assemble a wide variety of aircraft mechanical components, assemblies, accessories, and parts.
Perform prescribed rework or overhaul in accordance with technical reference material; disassembling, cleaning, and examining items for corrosion, wear, scratches, or other damage which exceeds allowable tolerances.
Replace unserviceable parts or rework by hand lapping, honing, and shimming, touching up plating, and or painting, or bead blasting, or routes to other shops for rework.
Use balancing machines, fixtures, and test equipment such as ohmmeters, hot air test stand, load test stand, flow and pressure test stand to complete rework or assembly and to assure item meets required specifications for proper operation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a personnel security background check (Tier 1 – Non-Sensitive, Low Risk).
- Must be willing to undergo a physical examination initially, and annually thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment drug test screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- This position may be subject to a one-year probationary period.
- Must be willing to travel on Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 5% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform tasks such as 1) inspecting, reworking, repairing, and balancing aircraft mechanical components, 2) using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, and/or gauges; 3) following technical reference material to accomplish rework and/or overhaul. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires long periods of standing, and/or sitting and reaching. Frequently handles items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a clean, well-lighted, ventilated shop area. Exposed to moving machinery, solvents, oil, and grease. Subject to noise from test stand operation. Required wearing safety glasses and shoes; also, gloves, respirators, and hearing protection when appropriate. Working conditions considered in the evaluation of the work.
