Roy, UT : $87,902 to $113,773 (includes 16.82% locality)
San Diego, CA: $100,115 to $129,580 (includes 33.05% locality)
Santa Ana, CA: $102,214 to $132,297 (includes 35.84% locality)
Duties
Develop information security policies for the protection of Special Access Prog or SCI classified information.
Conduct information security inspections for compliance with requirements.
Prepare internal operating procedures, and conducts annual self-inspections.
Ensure supervisors are reporting potential security problems.
Direct reviews of the continuing reduction of classified holdings.
Brief/Debrief personnel on classified information.
Respond to possible compromise of classified information.
Interpret/Develop classification guidance to protect classified information.
Conduct pre-screening of personnel for eligibility determination.
Review personnel security clearance forms for completeness.
Provide guidance to officials during information security investigations.
Verify background investigation/clearance levels of personnel.
Prepare and implement physical security surveys and inspections.
Administer all badge/access and visit certifications for physical security of a building and visitor approval.
Prepare emergency plans for the protection of personnel, property and facilities.
Ensure visit certification notices are on file.
Maintain liaison with other program security officers, personnel and contractors.
Conduct personnel, information, and physical security training as needed.
Conduct periodic security awareness training and provide instructional material to personnel who have access to classified material.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Security Requirements: Special Sensitive requiring incumbent to obtain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security access.
- Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
- Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
Qualifications
This position is not a law enforcement position.
To qualify for an Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in, or related to, this position.
To qualify for the NH-03 level, specialized experience must be at the NH-02 or GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Experience in providing guidance of policy and procedures relating to personnel clearance and access.
Experience in developing or conducting training of information and personnel security.
Experience determining suitability of personnel for access to classified information.
Experience conducting security inspections to ensure implementation and compliance with requirements of the information security program.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
