You will serve as a RIGGER LEADER in the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast, Facility & Infastructure Mgmt Dept of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will will lead multiple rigging workers and riggers, serve as the Weight Handling Equipment Subject Matter Expert (WHESME), and Rigger-In-Charge for complex lift evolutions. You will have require a thorough knowledge of the requirements of NAVFAC P-307 manual. You will make difficult decisions related to moving large complex equipment and aircraft items using in-depth knowledge of rigging priciples and techniques. You will read, interpret, and understand engineering instructions, specifications, procedures, diagrams and sketches.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Applies expert knowledge of the methods, techniques, processes, procedures, tools, materials, and practices of the rigger trade, and will set the example of professional performance for the Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) team to follow. Works closely as a team with the WHE Program Specialist to ensure overall crane operations are in compliance with NAVFAC P-307. Oversees the work of a group of Riggers who serve as to perform a full range of rigging duties such as moving large, heavy objects in open and confined spaces, considering factors such as size, shape, and location of object. Assist the Riggers with all aspects of planning and execution of in process lifting and handling as well as assists the Riggers and shops in determining load weights and performing pre-use inspections. Utilizes and trains workers on use and proper operations of equipment such as chain falls, slings, cranes, hoists, forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks and other weight handling equipment/rigging gear used daily in the production department.
