This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Library Buildings and Grounds, Facilities Operations Division, Electrical Branch. The position performs progressively accountable electrician duties in support of equipment and facilities in the Library of Congress facilities.
Duties
Tour of Duty: 12:30 pm to 9 pm; Electrical Upkeep, Connection, Analysis, Adjustment, and RestorationConnects, adjusts, upkeeps, and preserves routine and customary electrical lines, circuits, systems, related equipment, and controls. Tasks include troubleshooting electrical devices covering electronic mechanisms in order to separate the cause of the breakdown of electrical control structures, analog/digital panels, and solid state motor control circuits in apparatuses. Cases of these are the uninterrupted power systems (UPS), fire distress systems, adjustable speed drives and electric motor starters for air conditioning systems, cafeteria and kitchenette equipment such as ovens, ranges, deep fryers etc.; light system banks, and programmed door opening systems. Evaluates, adjusts, and/or repairs electronic stabilizers, electronic dimmer panels, programmed transfer switches, motor control centers, modifiers, small control tool repair, minor power supply lines, and circuits used to deliver a variety of power, amperage, stage, and incidence requirements to delivery panels, adjustment gear, power and regulator circuits; engineering multiphase systems; thermocouple radars; electrical interference panic and fire alarm systems; crisis cautioning systems; light protection systems; high power light systems with related controls; target apparatuses; AC and DC modification systems; galvanic and impressed current cathodic protection systems which avoid erosion on underground or underwater equipment and pipelines; loudspeaker circuits; and associated electrical apparatuses.Tests equipment using voltmeters ammeters, meg-ohmmeters, and other testing apparatuses.Autonomously works from construction plans, outlines, wiring illustrations, engineering sketches, and electrical preservation and restoration instructions.Troubleshoots, examines, and loads new and current electrical lines, tracks, systems, and related features, controls, and equipment. Decides site of current electrical procedures and service entrances and situates new ones.Detects difficult-to-find flaws or glitches. Understands and applies the National Electrical Code, local codes, construction plans, designs, wiring illustrations, and engineering diagrams, and uses trade methods to analyze shared properties, e.g., power, energy drop and current capability in series and matching circuits, inductance, resistance, capacitance, control dynamic, current stream, and temperature and span in lone and several raceways, channels, trenches, and cable trays.Leads Workers and Helpers during cable pulling, tagging, securing, cutting, bending, and mounting electrical conduit.

WG-11 - Experience in evaluating and adjusting electrical devices containing electronic mechanisms and understanding, processing and connecting a variety of comprehensive electrical systems andapparatuses.
