Participates in the design, development, implementation, maintenance and support in one or more of the major ITS hardware and/or software configurations within the Agency, including but not limited to: internet and/or intranet software application hosting; data exchanges inside and outside SSA's network; and electronic messaging, groupware and collaboration software. Participates in the maintenance of all change management system controls required to maintain those systems.

Duties

Integrates and validates new hardware, software products, versions and maintenance levels within SSANet. Performs software planning, installation and management at remote sites. Conducts analyses, simulations, benchmarks and feasibility studies relative to changes in business applications, business processes, systems support software, Federal regulations and changes in Agency strategic direction. Works continuously with the appropriate levels of management and with members of the staff in offices throughout SSA to provide liaison and assistance, and participates in planning activities that affect hardware and software.

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, applicants must demonstrate the following IT-related competencies: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition, to qualify for this GS-12 level position, applicants must possess and demonstrate 52 weeks of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level (or above) in the federal service that is in or related to the work of the position filled and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such IT-related experience must include: Using Microsoft Exchange Administration or Exchange Online Utilizing Microsoft SaaS solutions to conduct Exchange Hybrid deployments Troubleshooting the Microsoft Exchange Server, Exchange Online, or Microsoft Outlook Making deployments throughout the Development Lifecycle in order to analyze and troubleshoot software changes within the Microsoft Exchange Infrastructure. This specialized experience is REQUIRED and must be explicitly documented/described in your resume or you will be disqualified from further consideration.
