About the Position: This is a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator / Motor Vehicle Operator), WG-6907-06, with the 402nd Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center located at Fort Greely, Alaska.

Duties

Receive freight, checks for completeness, identification, amount and condition. Skilled in operating a forklift to move and store supplies weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168inches. Transport materials both on and off post, load and unload cargo and materials as necessary, ensure vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity. Receive stock in packs or bulk and report any discrepancies or damage. Warehouses bin or bulk stock according to specific locations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License to operate a vehicle to drive to work sites.
  • Safety boots are required to accomplish mission.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Position requires the employee to pass pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
  • Lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate vehicles.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Forklift Operator / Motor Vehicle Operator)~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks to include reading and interpreting instructions; determine when tools and equipment should be sent for test, repair, or calibration; and operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts and trucks with up to 50,000 pounds load capacity with tilt bed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 40 pounds. Physical capabilities such as reaching, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling and climbing are also job requirements. The operation of motor vehicles is necessary by incumbent. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works primarily inside but may be required to work outside when transporting items from one location to another. Works in a warehouse which may be poorly lighted, cold, damp, drafty and maybe exposed to dust, dirt, and grease. The possibility of cuts, bruises, strains and falls from ladders or conveyances could occur. May also be exposed to injuries while driving, loading or unloading vehicles. Working closely with other employees to accomplish assignments will be required.

Education
