Duties

Receive freight, checks for completeness, identification, amount and condition. Operate a forklift which is capable of lifting loads weighing less than 50,000 pounds. Drive/operate truck tractor and semi-trailer combination units (10-52 ton). Transport articles and materials both on and off post, load and unload cargo and materials as necessary, ensure vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Safety boots required.
  • CDL Class A required.
  • Forklift Certification within 60 days of employment required.
  • Physical required; up to 40 lbs lifting may be required.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT Work involves heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 40 pounds. Physical capabilities such as reaching, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling and climbing are also job requirements. The operation of motor vehicles is necessary by incumbent. WORKING CONDITIONS Works primarily inside but may be required to work outside when transporting items from one location to another. Works in a warehouse which may be poorly lighted, cold, damp, drafty and may be exposed to dust, dirt, and grease. The possibility of cuts, bruises, strains and falls from ladders or conveyances could occur. May also be exposed to injuries while driving, loading or unloading vehicles. Working closely with other employees to accomplish assignments will be required.
