The primary purpose of this position POWERED SUPT EQUIP REPAIRER (INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT REPAIRER), WG-06 target WG-08 is to support all flight line aircraft organizations/special programs/tenant organizations and other base agencies. Duty Title: AGE Servicing, Pick-up Delivery Driver/Mechanic

Duties

Perform daily duties as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic/Servicing, Pick-up and Delivery Driver in the AGE Flight function. Perform minor maintenance on a wide variety of assigned equipment, powered and non-powered AGE, and equipment on Temporary Duty (TDY) status at the Air Force Flight Test Center. Maintains Bulk Fuel Inventory Management responsibilities for four each 6,000 gallon AGE above ground bulk fuel tanks. Primarily responsible for Aerospace Ground Equipment Familiarization Training for all equipment users, to include military, civilian and contractors that require the use of AGE for daily aircraft support. Maintain a fleet of aircraft towing/support vehicles for the Flight.

  • Must be able to qualify/maintain a flight line drivers licenses, operate government vehicles and AGE and pass physical examinations.
  • Subject to rotating shift, TDYs, overtime, and uncommon tour of duty.
  • May be assigned other duties deemed necessary within the section to support its mission.
  • PHYSICAL: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL.
  • Recruitment and Relocation bonus may be offered at the selection officials’ discretion from $0 - $10,000.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. TARGETED POSITION: This position is a developmental WG-06 Target WG-08 position. This position may be filled at any grade level. Individual selected may be promoted without further competition, upon meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. Starting salary indicated on this vacancy announcement is for the (WG-06). Attainment of knowledge, skills, and abilities is required before promotion to the next higher grade and is dependent on demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the next higher grade level, meeting all regulatory requirements, and recommendation for promotion by the supervisor. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed. Military Spouse candidates exercising their preference will be placed at the full performance level, if considered to be best qualified and selected. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. 2. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) 3. Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) 4. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment 5. Knowledge of Materials 6. Trouble shooting PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Moderate physical effort while operating vehicles, coupling and uncoupling equipment, positioning equipment in sub pool or around aircraft; may be required to lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds. Work requires frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching and pushing equipment into positions. WORKING CONDITIONS: May work outside or inside. Exposed to desert conditions, subject to high noise, may work above ground for some tasks. Possibility of cuts, bruises, strains, or electrical shocks; the use of personal protective equipment may be required for some tasks; possibility of skin irritation from fluids, lubricants or other hazardous materials.
