You will serve as a Launchers Systems Engineer/Scientist in the Customer Advocate Division (0CA), PEO Support Branch (0CA2) of NUWCDIVNPT of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15.
Duties
You will serve as the SSN(X) Payloads and Payload Systems Launchers Systems Engineer/Scientist who plans and coordinates the overall development of SSN(X) Launcher Systems and payload/platform integration interface development.
You will plan and coordinate technical support to programs/projects, and other technical efforts under the Program Executive Officer, Attack Submarines (PEO SSN) 351 Program Office.
You will function as a technology development project manager to identify, consult on, and evaluate the performance/effectiveness of promising new technologies that support requirements, proposed research and development facilities.
You will make substantial and continuing contributions to long-range SSN(X) Launcher Systems plans and to the formulation, modification, and determination of overall objectives.
You will be responsible for project management of and advising on early-stage development of technology for shipboard application, especially multiple technologies whose development efforts are networked and phased.
You will work closely with partners across the Naval enterprise, as well as public, private and academic Science and Technology, and Research and Development organizations.
You will leverage programmatic and technical efforts with other submarine launcher system programs including VIRGINIA Class Blk VII and Blk VIII and in-service submarine modernization.
You will leverage programmatic and technical efforts with other submarine launcher system programs including SEA 05 Technical Warrant Holders/Ship Design Managers, payload development PARMs, and related activities including ONR, DARPA, and SCO.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- Must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 15 pounds in weight.

Qualifications
This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled by a General Engineer (0801-series), a Mathematician (1520-series), or a Computer Scientist (1550-series) depending upon the qualifications of the candidate. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-4 pay band (GS12 and GS13 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer or scientist planning or coordinating the development or technical support of a program by applying advanced theories, concepts, and principles of engineering, mathematics or computer science for undersea warfare systems.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
- Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Degree Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
