As an Administrative Services Assistant, you will provide administrative support for the Diagnostics and Biologics program and administrative personnel. You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and effectively accomplishing the administrative functions of the Administrative Services Unit (ASU).
Duties
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Serves as receptionist for CVB by screening calls, furnishing information and/or directing callers to proper sources of information.
Prepares travel authorizations and makes both domestic and international transportation and lodging reservations for Diagnostics and Biologics personnel.
Processes time and attendance for accuracy for employees, answering employee questions concerning rules, regulations, and process issues.
Prepares and processes procurement documents for personnel, using an electronic purchasing system.
Processes work order requests for facilities, IT and/or vehicle maintenance through appropriate systems.
Schedules usage of government owned vehicles and conference room reservations for personnel.
Provides interviewing facilitation.
Prepares correspondence, reports, and other documents for supervisor or program personnel.
Supports the Diagnostics and Biologics Property and Space Management Specialist and Fleet Manager with reports, documents, and audits.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Individuals who were born male after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

- Work is performed in an office setting and is primarily sedentary, but there is some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items.
- Mentally demanding due to the need to react to and resolve problems, meet a fluctuating workload, and provide customer satisfaction in a timely, accurate manner.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Producing and distributing electronic correspondence memos, letters, and forms
Developing and maintaining an electronic filing system
Providing information to customers via phone and email in a concise and timely manner
Maintaining supplies inventory and placing supply orders in an electronic ordering system
Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
