About the Position: Serves as Experimentation Development Coordinator for US Southern Command's (SOUTHCOM) Science and Technology (S&T) program in concert with the S&T Experimentation Lead to develop and maintain an integrated Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDTE) plan and to ensure adequate balance between the near and mid-term investments.

Duties

Responsible for the life cycle management of plans, policies, and programs to establish, influence, and support the SOUTHCOM experimentation efforts as it pertains to the integration of capabilities and ensuring future mission readiness. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates integrated plans, programs, and schedules for assigned programs and directs, coordinates, and monitors the overall management efforts of organizations providing support. Provides technical leadership in research and development activities based on extensive knowledge of national security and SOUTHCOM strategy, goals, concepts and analyses of how these plans can be integrated to the experimentation program. Establishes, curates, and marshals a portfolio of program proposals necessary to achieve technical, cost and schedule goals of the division’s RDT and E projects. Reviews progress reports to ensure adherence to technical requirements, schedules, and cost objectives and assures objectives are achievable and accomplished according to plans, schedules and in accordance with established policy. Establishes project development and production strategy that integrates the efforts of engineers, scientists, contractors, technical specialists, user representatives, and other participants from other facilities into an effective project team. Encourages development of a collective team of empowered individuals who make decisions and accept accountability for success of the product development process and results. Encourages creative problem-solving to achieve technical and program goals. Continually evaluates program against requirements/goals. Assesses risks to program and initiates risk management/mitigation efforts, as necessary.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a Security Clearance at the TOP SECRET/Special Sensitive Level as the incumbent will be required to access, process, use, and safeguard classified National Defense information.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
