Duties

As a Emergency Management Specialist you will: Serve as a Team Lead for the Infrastructure and Services Team within RADSS, which provides the infrastructure support and services in the utilization and management of CDC's Common Operating Platform. Serve as a consultant, providing technical expertise in public health emergency management capacity and capability-building and the development of appropriate guidance and training. Facilitate resolution of controversial and complicated issues associated with the delivery of public health emergency management training and consultative guidance. Provide technical assistance, consultation, training activities and evaluation to local, state, national, and/or international departments/ministries of health in emergency preparedness and response activities. Lead public health emergency management capacity development products and activities. Oversee execution of acquisitions (e.g., contracts or cooperative agreements) to support programmatic activities, monitors progress, and ensure evaluation of outcomes. Develop and implement policies, plans, procedures, and strategies designed to support public health emergency management training.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience: supporting capacity development work in such areas as direct technical assistance, training, curriculum development, policy; and leading personnel engaged in public health emergency response activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
