The Program Support Assistant (PSA) position is located within Sterile Processing Service (SPS) at Audie L. Murphy VAMC, in San Antonio, Texas. The PSA provides administrative guidance and assistance to the professional staff (Chief and Assistant Chief, SPS, Facility Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) Coordinator, Quality Assurance Coordinator, and Sterile Processing Technicians).
Duties
Duties may include but are not limited to:
-Collects, compiles and tracks SPS information in multiple systems and multiple formats.
-Perform analysis of SPS data, and generate reports in support of the unit mission and reporting requirements for the Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) and Central Office (CO).
-Complete special projects and provide data summaries, background information and other input from publications and other sources.
-Coordinates the scheduling of staff with the Chief and Assistant Chief SPS and is responsible for the production of the SPS Duty Schedule and other documents.
-Establishes a file plan and is the primary responsible individual for monitoring the plan and securing of required documentation.
-Performs office automation duties, using such software applications as electronic mail, timekeeping programs and calendar.
-Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data, in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy.
-Conducts orientation briefing of all new employees to posting timecards and leave regulations.
-Acts as a liaison with all clinical services throughout the Medical Center to ensure the effective and efficient functional operation of the service.
-Act as the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Manager/Sponsor.
-Coordinates procedures and logistical support with vendor service representatives.
-Monitors and reports time and attendance.
-Tracks, logs and reports on a variety of time and attendance, and special pay categories, which requires the use of unrelated methods, practices and procedures.
-Provide graphs, charts, and grids of information for reports or review.
-independently maintains daily back-up routines, including data entry.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/08/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledgeable and skilled in computer systems; Excellent communication skills; Understanding in medical and surgical terminology; General understanding of anatomy and physiology; Knowledgeable of all Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) National Program Office Guidelines to include Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) guidelines.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
