ORGANZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Health Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area, Clinical Services- Dental Department, Colorado River Service Unit- Parker Indian Health Center, located in Parker, Arizona. Position is supervised by the Supervisory Dentist (Chief Dentist).
Duties
Major Duties:
Provides leadership, direction and technical expertise in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the clinical functions of the Dental Clinic.
Provider schedules for all dental clinics within the Service Unit, completes or directs peer reviews and quality improvement projects within the Service Unit's policies and procedures. Reviews and completes performance appraisal plans for staff. Approves leave for staff thru automated and manual process for time and attendance and recruits for vacancies as they occur for department.
Provides direct patient care for patients; providing dental treatment and referring patients when required pre Purchase Referred Care's policies and procedures for patient care outside the Service Unit. Provides health education to patients and families along with treatment plans for dental care
Schedule staff meetings; Assists Dental Providers in developing and maintaining Quality Assurance program. Management of dental supplies, equipment and service contracts.

Individual Occupational Requirements
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: Applicant must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administrated by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience: In addition to meeting the above education and licensure requirements, applicants must have one or more full years of experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing professional dentistry work for GS-12 level assignments and Completed a 2-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science.
Medical Requirement: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least 2 years of professional experience and/or training. This experience is equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Coordinate the day-to-day clinical functions of a Dental Clinic; Manage work schedules of subordinate staff; Participate and advise in personnel matters relating to the dental staff including: staffing plan, recruiting and hiring; Orientation of new staff members on Infection Control procedures and policy and procedures for the Dental Clinic.
