THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This ND National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT), Position Description Number D2526P01 and is part of the ND G6, National Guard.
Duties
As an IT Specialist (CUSTSPT), you will be responsible for the delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and/or training, in response to customer requirements. As an IT Customer Support Specialist, the incumbent is responsible for providing Tier II technical support at the Service Desk and responsible for customer relationship building and problem resolution management. Work is performed in a tiered Service Desk environment involving support to multiple sites for the planning and delivery of information technology customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training in response to customer requirements.
Addresses problems: installs, configures, troubleshoots, and provides maintenance and training in response to customer requirements or inquiries (e.g., tiered-level customer support).
Provides support and guidance on installing, and operating personal computers, peripheral equipment, and associated software.
Receives requests for resolution of hardware or software problems that may require in-depth research.
Updates hardware and software architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software.
Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

- Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Position is designated as OM-STS-001 within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by NIST SP 800-181, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.
Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: Officers (O-3 and below), Enlisted (E-9 and below), and Warrant Officer (CW5 and below)
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE
Length of time is not of itself qualifying. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have the experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must one year of specialized experience at the GS-9 grade level or civilian equivalent, 1) experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; 2) experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; 3) experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment; and 4) experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

Education
If you are using education as a substitution to qualify you must meet the below:
At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
