About the Position:
This position is located at Moncrief Army Health Clinic, Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. This position serves as a dispensing pharmacy technician performing duties that can range from routine to difficult.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties
Receive and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Enter prescriptions into outpatient computer system reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders.
Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
Scan the prescriptions for the filler and checker after typing prescriptions and then fills the prescription.
Obtain pharmaceuticals, prepare package labels, visually inspects medication in the bottle to be dispensed, verifies appropriate medication.
Checks the printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is an inclement weather essential position: incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- Required to work weekend call duties and evenings.
- This position requires a Pre-Appointment Physical.
- This position requires a drug test.
- This position may require heavy lifting of 40 lbs.
- This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96 the position requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B immunizations and Tuberculin testing unless exempt by physician.
- Employee will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.

- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes filling and distributing pharmaceuticals AND utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems AND maintaining drug inventory. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
