About the Position: As a Training Instructor (Writer), for the Army Management Staff College (AMSC), you will serve as a faculty member in Civilian Leader Development as part of the Civilian Education System (CES) designing, developing, and delivering original graduate and undergraduate level courses in a resident setting or through synchronous/asynchronous distributed learning.
Duties
As a Training Instructor (Writer), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Design, develop, and deliver original adult graduate and undergraduate level courses in the resident and distributed learning (DL), to include both synchronous and asynchronous (DL), modalities.
Due to the multiple course offerings, education levels, delivery methods, and highly diverse student body you must exercise exceptional skill in instructional design methods, practices, and programs that are grounded in adult learning theory.
Serve on collaborative faculty committees, work groups, and task forces, and will serve occasionally in the same capacity with Combined Arms Center (CAC), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) or Department of the Army (DA) education work groups.
Instructor/Writers are required to ensure their course design, development, or revision work systematically aligns with related courses in the organization and is fully integrated vertically and horizontally in support of CES educational outcomes.
Maintain professional relationships with senior members of academia, public and private sector officials for purposes of maintaining professional currency and contributing to the continuing development of leader development doctrine and curriculum.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background (Tier 1) investigation throughout the duration of employment.
- Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 30% of the time.
- May be required to complete a one year probationary period, if not previously completed.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience at the GS-12 or equivalent grade/level which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves delivering adult education instruction through formats such as (teaching others, distributed learning, facilitated distributed learning, and/or in residence); or designing integrated courseware for adult education or leader development; performing research on emerging technologies, content and instructional delivery methods.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Education
