The Office of the Clerk serves as the official record keeper of the US House of Representatives, and supports the nonpartisan legislative functions of the institution, including as custodian of the House’s unique records and collections. We are dedicated to collecting, preserving, and presenting legislative democracy’s material culture for the House and for posterity.

Qualifications
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in art history,
history, museum studies, or related field, and a minimum of two years’ museum
experience. Master’s degree in related field preferred. Demonstrated ability handling
collections, fluidity with museum databases, detail-oriented and creative
problem-solving skills, and temperament to communicate with a variety of clients
in a professional manner. Ability to perform the major duties
described above. Willingness and demonstrated capacity to
learn new approaches. Ability to work as a member of a team performing shared
duties. Strong research, writing, and communication skills. Ability to exercise
discretion and independent judgement in fulfilment of responsibilities. Must be
computer proficient and be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Hiring for this position is governed by the Veterans
