This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Base Elizabeth City, Maintenance Branch of Facilities Engineering Division, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a maintenance mechanic and to personally perform the duties and responsibilities that require skill in multiple trades.Being a member CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment.Working from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment.Performing the planning, lay out, and completion of installations, modifications, and repairs with little or no direction.Performing and/or assisting with some duties associated with other trades.Cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining the tools, equipment, and supplies.

- The position requires a valid state driver's license.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
