This position is located in the immediate Office of the Inspector General, specifically in the Office of Counsel (OC). The incumbent serves as a Staff Assistant to the Counsel to the IG and their Deputies, assists OC attorneys and other staff in the performance of administrative functions, and oversees the administrative support activities within OC.
Duties
Develop or write standard operating procedures and protocols regarding administration operations.
Prepare regular reports for management, and individual staff.
Assist with report publication activities such as performing proofreading, preparing 508 accessible documents.
Assist lawyers in preparing Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Merit Systems Protection Board, or other litigation submissions.
Provides directions and informal training to staff regarding such operations.
Serve as the System Administrator for the IG Subpoena Program and Case Management Systems.
Determine disposition of incoming communications and documents, direct matters to appropriate OC staff member, coordinates assignments, tracks status of work and responses, and coordinates final responses, as appropriate. Maintains OC filing systems.
Serves as OC timekeeper, and liaisons with other offices on time and attendance matters.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes in depth knowledge of the application of various rules, regulations, policies and procedures which pertain to the administration of particular legal programs.
OR
EDUCATION: Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: An equivalent combinations of successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related, and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
