This position is located in the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG), Mission Support Team (MST) component. The incumbent manages a variety of management, analytical, and administrative day to day operations and services.

Duties

Serves as a team leader for the Mission Support Team administrative staff responsible for providing administrative support for over 200 individuals. Reviews and approves training requests; provides input for performance evaluations, awards recognition; monitors compliance with mandatory training requirements. Articulates and communicates team assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion. Reviews correspondence packages for Mission Support Team senior leaders and management signatures to ensure all documents meet applicable standards and appropriate coordination has taken place. Ensures the development and execution of budgets; develops and justifies long and short- range financial requirements and projections, based on analysis of past expenditures, new or revised program plans and relevant regulation and policy. Ensures the development of Requests for Personnel Action, and Component award nominations, performance management documents, and other human capital actions.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position has been designated as security designation level Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov).
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

Qualifications

Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-13 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS- 12 or equivalent level. Examples of qualifying experience include two or more of the following: Providing direct executive-level administrative support, evaluating existing administrative processes, and developing recommendations for improvements. Overseeing staff time and attendance; managing correspondence and presentation functions; developing requests for personnel action, award nominations, and performance management documents. Developing and executing budgets, using automated databases and systems to provide critical data for reports. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
