Duties

The Deputy Administrative Officer participates fully in directing and managing the overall administrative support program for the United States Attorney's Office. Typical work assignments will include: Serves as a Deputy Chief of the Administrative Division and, with the Administrative Officer (AO), participates fully as a senior administrative advisor to the United States Attorney for planning and managing all United States Attorney's Office (USAO) resources. Assists the Administrative Officer in managing, through two or more subordinate supervisors, a subordinate staff of administrative, technical, and clerical staff organized in two or more organizational units. Actively participates with District management in the formulation and implementation of district-wide policies and procedures pertaining to management and general office administration. Advises senior management staff on options to define and maximize overall effectiveness of administrative programs. Assists the Administrative Officer in analyzing organizational and work design proposals recommended by subordinate supervisors. With the Administrative Officer, participates fully in the overall planning and management of a comprehensive administrative services and support programs: budget administration and financial management, personnel management and administration, security, space and facilities management, support services and property management, contracting and procurement, information technology and litigation support and all related internal controls.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

GS:14 - To be eligible at the GS-14 level, you must have at least ONE year of Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: A) providing assistance to upper management personnel in one or more of the areas of budget analysis and financial administration, human resources administration, purchasing/acquisition management, or a combination of administrative operational services (e.g. facilities/space management, internal controls and efficiencies, asset management, physical security) and B) providing business continuity planning and execution. Such experience may include: experience developing administrative policies and procedures for these services as well as serving as a principal advisor to senior management on business operations matters; experience coordinating administrative and management support program activities with high-level executives. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
