Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Working for the Agency as a subject matter expert to: coordinate, develop, and execute Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery activities; provide support, information, programmatic guidance, and direction to the Agency staff on Disaster Behavioral Health (DBH) threats and vulnerabilities, Agency posture, and Response Framework; inclusive of all natural disasters, and human-caused disaster incidents such as mass violence, chemical hazards, and terrorism and/or bioterrorism. Assist to lead the SAMHSA response efforts during a natural or human caused disaster, assuring cross-Agency communication, coordination, and collaboration. Systematically monitors, identifies, and analyzes the natural and human-caused risks and hazards that pose potential threats and significant national consequences. Briefing the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) and SAMHSA leadership on these activities, ensuring they are well-informed, and activities are aligned with organizational goals and priorities.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing at least two (2)of the following: Leading and/or coordinating disaster behavioral health (such as: natural disasters, and human-caused disaster incidents such as mass violence, chemical hazards, and terrorism and/or bioterrorism) activities across federal, state, and/or local partnerships to align program priorities. Monitoring, analyzing, and/or validating data on disaster behavioral health (such as: natural disasters, and human-caused disaster incidents such as mass violence, chemical hazards, and terrorism and/or bioterrorism) programs and services. Evaluating natural and human-caused disaster and emergency events and advice regarding legislative and policy impacts.
