About the Position: Serve as a Program Ranger for Volunteer Management for the San Francisco Bay Model Regional Visitor Center and the Engineering Model.

Duties
Serve as a Program Ranger for Volunteer Management for the San Francisco Bay Model Regional Visitor Center and the Engineering Model.
Formulate and implement the program areas assigned by developing guidelines and standard operating procedures for program improvements.
Maintain complete and accurate records used to evaluate assigned program(s) effectiveness and proposed plans.
Prepare short and long-range volunteer program goals and develops methods to implement the goals.
Develop proposals for new policies, forms, procedures, and/or methods for improving volunteer participation, and submits those proposals to the San Francisco District, South Pacific Division (SPD) and HQUSACE for final decision.
Use a variety of media to communicate information such as audio-visual presentations (slideshows and video productions), exhibits, displays, tours, lectures, and television.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 20 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires night, weekend and holiday work schedules.
- This position requires Incumbent to possess or be able to acquire first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and bloodborne pathogen training.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to wear the Corps' authorized uniform in the performance of duties as prescribed by AR 670-10 and supplements.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to receive a minimum of 24 hours of personal protection/unarmed self- defense, situational evaluation and tactical communication training within two years of employment.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes administering the conservation and/or use of natural resources; AND implementing plans for the construction or improvement of a recreation facility; AND developing or administering service contracts for a recreation facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
