This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Responsible for operations to include patrols, , coordination of special events, traffic-accident investigations, serious incident notifications, and conduct of various investigations as directed. Conducts vigorous patrols within the assigned jurisdictional area on foot, bike, and by motor vehicle and performs duty at various fixed posts. Conducts surveys and develops recommendations on proposed missions. Utilizes automated police reporting and information systems. Performs traffic enforcement duties as directed or initiated. Engages in traffic control and serves as a deterrent to crime through presence in the area and by observing, investigating, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, to determine cause and cite offenders as necessary.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential"
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

  • Successfully graduated, unless a waiver is approved, from the United States Army Military Police School Civilian Police Academy.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully gain and pass training certification related to police work functions

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • Obtain and maintains defensive drivers course (DDC) requirements.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience assisting with the coordination of special events, traffic accident investigations and/or incident notifications; administering of the property control program concerning equipment and procurement functions for the division; conducting law enforcement duties in the protection of life, property and civil rights; This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07 or equivalent).
