The primary purpose of this position is to lead three or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full time and continuing basis. Leader is responsible to both perform the work assigned by a supervisor and ensures that subordinates completed assigned work consistent with trades and labor standards.
Duties
Lead a team of trades and/or labor workers.
Performs work.
Repair, modify, and manufacture honeycomb adhesive bonded advanced composite structures that have contours that must be re-established or that require the manufacture of a modification using the available part, pattern, or material.
As a working leader, demonstrates, abides by, and ensures that the crew abides by all regulations, and policies established by management, higher authority related to safety, security, fire prevention, and good housekeeping.
Plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WL-4300 Pliable Materials Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic).
Use of Measuring Instruments.
Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes blueprint reading).
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment.
Knowledge of Materials.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work encompasses standing, bending, stooping, stretching and working in strained cramped conditions. Frequently handles, lifts, and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionaly lifts and moves heavier items with assistance from others or with weight lifting equipment. May be required to uncrate or load and move metal/composite parts and other repair items.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works both inside and outside and is subjected to noise and vibration from shop machines, high temperatures from curing ovens and heat lamps and to a variety of weather conditions. Work conditions frequently include exposure to dust, fumes and toxic and/or potentially flammable and explosive chemicals that can cause skin, eye, and lung irritations. Employee could also be exposed to injury while operating machines and power tools. Required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing duties.
