About the Position: This position is located at Department of Education of Activity, Fort Campbell Field Office, located at Fort Campbell, Christian, Kentucky.
This position is not covered by a bargaining unit.
Duties
Review outgoing correspondence for format, grammar, accuracy, conformance to office policy, completeness and coherence, and consistency.
In charge of preparing a variety of memoranda, documents, forms, and training materials for the administration and staff. Also responsible for preparing all requests for keys and locks.
Compile information for reports.
Maintain suspense files and schedule appointments for the administration and documents it on their calendars.
Receives calls, greets visitors, and directs inquires to the appropriate members of the school staff.
Provide information and guidance on school procedures, reports, and requirements, as well as school programs, policies, procedures, and activities.
Set up meetings and send out training material to staff and administration.
Make travel arraignments and set up appointments for superintendent.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One year trial or probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing school administrative functions such as utilizing office automation software to develop correspondence, reviewing correspondence to ensure accuracy; and maintaining office records to include time and attendance, payroll and/or leave records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
