This position is located in the Marquette, Michigan State Area Office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The primary purpose of the position is to serve as an assistant for clerical and administrative activities pertaining to correspondence, budget, purchasing, human resources, timekeeping, travel, and related administrative areas for a State Area Office.
Duties
Serves as the central point of contact to provide program support for a wide range of administrative, office support, and clerical functions.
Establishes, organizes, and maintains a filing system of official material and records; disposes material in accordance with prescribed procedures.
Provides administrative guidance, updates, processing, and retrieval of information associated with training, travel, and other administrative and technical reports.
Serves as purchase card holder and inventory recorder for supplies, equipment, and services within delegated authority, ensuring proper and timely documentation and reconciling.
Schedules meetings, prepares agendas, and coordinates training; prepares materials to be used in presentations or training conducted.
Serves as Area timekeeper in reviewing and verifying time and attendance; maintaining master files for area employees; and performing leave audits.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:
GS-7
Specialized Experience: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
1. Providing administrative support functions such as correspondence review and control, budget, purchasing, human resources, timekeeping, travel, and vehicle fleet tracking;
2. Utilizing computer software and database management for data entry and other administrative tasks;
3. Scheduling meetings, training and teleconferences for office personnel to accommodate the needs of the office; and
4. Providing training to employees on administrative procedures and orientations.
