The incumbent serves as a Social Science Research Analyst in the Deputy Commissioner, Retirement and Disability Policy (DCRDP), Office of Research, Demonstration and Employment Support (ORDES) conducting public policy analysis and assists in the management of projects and studies.
Duties
Assists in planning, managing, and coordinating special projects and policy initiatives and provides advice and assistance to senior researchers.
(Cont'd) Make recommendations for changes in policy, projects, programs and program emphasis.
Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of policy issues using appropriate research methodology and presents information and findings in analytical papers or provides input into reports and papers.
Assists with the design of the technical requirements of the task orders, projects and/or studies. Identifies and develops associated costs.
Assists with the establishment of quality standards and delivery requirements.
Assists the contracting officer and/or project officer with solicitation and evaluation of bids.
Provides technical input and documentation for contract modification or termination.
Assists in overseeing day-to-day operations of contracts and research grants, either as the project officer or in support of the project officer.
Ensuring that the contractor receives required technical program support; allocating available resources; obtaining needed support from Agency components; coordinating activities; and resolving any operational or technical problems that may arise.
Prepares background information; performs policy research; and develops reports as part of team.

Possess a degree in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Transcript must include the degree and date conferred, OR
A combination of education and experience that provided me with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Transcripts must document the semester credit hours acquired in a behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position, OR
Have 4 years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that I have acquired the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to the above IOR, applicants must meet one of the following:
52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent in or relate to the work of the position to be filled, that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include conducting social or economic research concerning the effects of social insurance programs and applying quantitative or qualitative data analysis to conduct research and develop findings. These experiences must include the use of SAS, STATA, SPSS, R, or Python (for quantitative) or NVivo or Atlas.ti (for qualitative) to analyze data and develop data files and reports.
OR
Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
A combination of education and experience.
