About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. THIS IS A DEVELOPMENTAL POSITION, HIRING AT THE GG-07 LEVEL ONLY.

Duties

Assists senior personnel security specialists in reviewing personnel security actions and information to verify investigations and clearances, initiate investigations, process clearance access actions. Makes advisements on procedures for adverse security determinations and employee rights. Completes in/out processing, form updates, and monitors continuous evaluation against basic personnel security administration principles, policies, and procedures. Assists with providing advice and guidance on personnel security policies and related matters and on the impact of personnel security requirements on organizational missions. Serves as a Developmental Security Specialist with administrative responsibility for carrying out personnel security duties. Represents the organization in personnel security matters.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance based on a Tier 3 investigation.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of progressively responsible intelligence related security experience equivalent to the GG/GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience with Personnel security directly related to background investigations procedures and verifying security access/clearance You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Organizational AwarenessPersonnel SecurityTechnical Competence Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. THIS IS A DEVELOPMENTAL POSITION, HIRING AT THE GG-07 LEVEL ONLY, WITH A FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL (FPL) OF GG-11. You may be promoted non-competitively to the next grade level upon meeting the following requirements: (1) Satisfactory demonstration of the ability to perform at the developmental/target grade. (2). If there is higher level work at the developmental/target grade level. (3) Recommendation for promotion by supervisor. (4) Satisfactory completion of all required training. (5) Completion of all DCIPS regulatory requirements for promotions. Consequently, promotion(s) are not guaranteed. In this developmental position, incumbent receives tailored instruction, guidance, training, and supervision designed to equip incumbent with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful performance in the full performance level, or target position.
