The Diversion Investigator (Staff Coordinator) position is open in Headquarters, Inspections Division, Office of Inspections (IN), Southeast Inspection Team F (INF) (Atlanta) in the following location(s):
Arlington, Virginia -or-
Atlanta, Georgia
The incumbent will perform such duties as:
Serving as Staff Coordinator reporting directly to the Section Chief or other Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) official, as appropriate; Subject matter expert in all aspects of the Diversion Control Program that has as its purpose the attainment of maximum results in the execution of the Agency's broad and complex investigative responsibilities.
Maintaining familiarity with the contents of the various Agency manuals as well as revisions, and other correspondence relative to policy issues, instructions, etc.
Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with federal, state, and local agencies, the registrant community, and other contacts; Promoting information exchanges, providing investigative expertise, and encouraging cooperative investigative actions; Serving as the Agency's official representative in such contacts and frequently as the Agency's personal representative at conferences, committees, meeting, etc.
Identifying and recommending to the Unit and Section Chief specific needs and requirements as deemed necessary to support DC's program objectives; Reviewing current policies in their area of expertise and recommending appropriate changes to the Section Chief; Communicating new policies, regulations, and procedures, i.e., DEA regulations, legislative proposals, agency and office procedures and policies relevant to DC programs and operations, when necessary for assigned program area(s).
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background and/or Security Clearance

- Drug testing designated position
- Successful completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period is required (unless already completed)
- Successful completion of the mandatory Basic Diversion Investigator Training Course.

Qualifications
GS-14: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) Planning, conducting, and overseeing investigations involving a vast range of subjects that encompass large, complex, and multi-mission organizations and can lead to cases of multi-jurisdictional, national, or international significance; 2) Overseeing development of investigations, statistical data, and reports to evaluate and determine goals and objectives; 3) Planning subordinate work assignments, and setting priorities and deadlines; and 4) Using breadth of technical and investigative knowledge, skills, and tools to discern and resolve conflicting facts or evidence.
