About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command; Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) Support Region West at the Ft. Cavasos, TX TMDE Support Center. Ft Cavasos is nicknamed The Great Place because of the quality of life the post and area offer Soldiers and their families.
Duties
Serves as a Calibration Specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical and dimensional standards and measurements applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation of TMDE.
Prepares test and certification reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections, and measurement uncertainties for instruments being calibrated.
Prepares reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provides technical information used in the decision making process.
Performs inter-laboratory comparisons of reference level standards with other Army reference laboratories to validate accuracy.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a Tier 1-Non-Sensitive/Low Risk suitability or suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision. Performing common tasks as a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator. I can perform calibration operations on various types of electronic, electrical and/or electromechanical measurement systems; interpret simple technical procedures and schematics in order to adapt them to complex calibration assignments; and diagnose or repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts:Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise handles items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally in excess of 40 pounds. Works in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping is required.
Working Conditions: Works in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. May be exposed to hazards of high voltage, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Must comply with applicable safety regulations.
