As a Public Affairs Specialist you may:

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • This employer participates in the e-Verify program.

  • Subject to satisfactory security and suitability requirements.
  • May be required to successfully complete a 1 year trial period.
  • This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 2 days per pay period.
  • A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work. Current Federal employees or other individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check.
  • This position is to be filled under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act direct hire authority.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS GS-14: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Overseeing the development of communications, outreach, and promotional materials to convey complex information involving highly visible and controversial issues. AND Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with national or international media representatives. AND Managing the preparation of and independently preparing press and informational releases for distribution to news media and to the public, including articles, op-eds, fact sheets, talking points and other material on energy and environment matters. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS GS-13: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Developing or approving content for social media or feature items on both technical and non-technical subjects. AND Developing, planning or executing complex media campaigns tailored to specific audiences designed to increase public understanding of multifaceted issues. AND Advising on potential media and public reaction to proposed policies and programs. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
