THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD2309000/NGD2301000 and is part of the TN 164th AW Air National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 115 (Pyramid on the River Chapter)

Duties

As an AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER, GS-2185-08, you will accomplish all requirements involved in mission planning and coordination. Accomplish a wide variety of preflight, in flight and post flight duties required by the nature of the aircraft assigned and the aircraft's specialized mission. Develop evacuation procedures for aircrew and passengers. Briefs passengers on in flight and emergency procedures and demonstrates the use of emergency equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. As an AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-09, you will develop and provide technical loadmaster FTU initial qualification flight training, instruction, and evaluations to all Reserve, Guard, and Active-Duty aircrew members. Accomplish a wide variety of mission planning/coordination, preflight, in flight and post flight duties required by the nature of the aircraft assigned and the aircraft's specialized mission. Develop evacuation procedures for aircrew and passengers. Serve as a flight examiner as required and performs staff duties. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • Must attain and maintain mission-ready status at the appropriate crew qualification level in the unit's assigned aircraft. Must take and pass written and in flight standardization evaluation exams.
  • Incumbent is exposed to physiological hazards of flight plus demands of routine lengthy missions, must work in confined, hazardous noise areas, is subject to inclement weather during ground ops and dangerous environment conditions during flight.
  • May be required to travel in military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Required to maintain proficiency in the use of firearms. May be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew related duties.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 through E-9 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience in functions such as preparing aircraft loading plans, loading and offloading aircraft, operating loading equipment, and ensuring security of cargo in flight. GS-2185-08 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1 year at the next lower GS level or 1 year experience and knowledge of the types, capacities, and configuration of transport aircraft; airdrop techniques; weight and balance factors; mathematics (algebra, geometry, and calculus). Knowledge of U.S. and International rules for hazardous cargo transport; interpretation of diagrams, loading plans, and applicable technical publications. Experience with passenger safety and safety of flight matters involving weight and balance data. GS-2185-09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1 year at the next lower GS level or 1 year experience in the principles of instruction. Experience preparing to load equipment onto an aircraft. Experience scanning aircraft during in-flight refueling operations, disconnecting electrical valves and manually working selector valves. Experience accomplishing weight and balance computations. Experience interpreting diagrams, loading plans and applicable technical publication
